I’ve been asked to illustrate a kids story book.  This is completely new and exciting for me.  It all started by showing the author examples of my sketching, small paintings I’ve done that represent my style.  Since she liked my style, I offered to mock some of the characters in her story and see if she likes what I come up with.  Today, I showed her some sketches of the characters.  Now that I am home, I’m going to start “painting” some bigger scenes.  I use the quotes for painting because I’m not sure if I am going to use paint… to me, a painting is simply a finished drawing.  It can be in any media, which differs from the usual understanding of painting.  My paintings usually include multiple media, not just one.  Who knows with the illustration though… here I go!  Stay tuned for pictures.

Ladies Art Nights happen at my (Rather’s) house.  Friends come over and we relax and experiment with new ideas and projects.  The ladies get really excited when they realize that they actually do have artistic abilities even if they don’t use them daily.  To begin with, I will post some of the pictures from the projects.  Stay tuned to see what else we get into!

A low-fi video taken from my digital Nikon snap shot camera.

It was a fun concert @ the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado and my finger is kinda covering the mic.

Oooppssss!

If you like to dance and groove to music, then Mama’s Cookin’ is a unique band that will be in your interest.

They play very unique sounds with a mixture of roots, bass heavy jazz, world beats, hip hop, blues, delta blues, funk rock, with a little jamm-band.

Zeb Early, songwriter and guitar player has written all the songs on both CD’s and has a lot more performed on stage.

Their first CD called “Let The Record Ride” was released in 2004 and the second one “Mama’s Cookin” was released in 2007.

The FaceBook fan page is a good place to see a few videos from the fans and Mama’s Cookin’ themselves.

Cookin’ can also be found on YouTube with a couple of releases with the famous keyboardist Bernie Worrell.
